A Certificate III in Education Support is an ideal qualification if you’re interested in a career as an Integration Aide. This course will give you the skills to provide support in a modern classroom environment. You’ll cover topics including ethics and legal obligations of education support workers, contributing to student education, supporting the development of literacy and numeracy skills, helping students with special needs, working with teaching staff and encouraging responsible student behaviour. A Certificate IV in Education Support or a Dual Certificate III and Certificate IV in Education Support may also be suitable.

Integration Aide careers

An Integration Aide works with students with disabilities or other developmental issues in a primary or high school setting. You might help students take part in school activities and assist them with their classroom lessons. Integration Aides may also assist students with social and communication skills or with behavioural needs.

Integration Aides should be patient and enjoy working with children and young people. It’s important you can understand individual student needs and be flexible in the way you assist them. Integration Aides must be able to follow correct procedures and be willing to work with students with a range of abilities and needs. You’ll need to be a good communicator and be able to follow instructions.
