A Migrant Support Worker provides guidance and assistance to people who have recently migrated to Australia. You might assess a client’s needs and offer information on finding employment, accessing health services or sourcing appropriate housing. Migrant Support Workers may also refer clients to other community service programs where appropriate.
Migrant Support Workers should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well with people from a range of backgrounds. You’ll need to listen to your clients’ needs and understand individual circumstances. Migrant Support Workers must be able to work in a team environment and liaise with other service providers.
