A Correctional Supervisor leads a team of correctional officers in a prison or correctional facility. You might attend to training needs, process staff performance reviews or attend to other employee issues. Correctional Supervisors ensure safety and security are maintained at a facility and may conduct patrols or deal with inmate incidents. You might also attend to security breaches or emergency situations.
Correctional Supervisors should have strong leadership skills and be able to communicate with people from a range of backgrounds. It’s important that you are physically fit and are willing to work a range of shifts including nights and weekends. Correctional Officers should have good teamwork skills and be able to follow correct procedures at all times.
