You can get started as a spa therapist with a VET qualification from the Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package. The Diploma of Beauty Services has an elective specialisation in spa treatments, or to widen your career prospects you might also consider a Certificate IV in Massage Therapy. These qualifications usually take between 6-12 months to complete and will give you the skills to deliver a diverse range of relaxation and beauty treatments.

Spa Therapist careers
Spa Therapists perform a range of body and relaxation treatments at day spas, wellness centres, hotels, resorts and retreats. A day in the life of a spa therapist might include performing massage, body wraps and facial therapy — then helping guests safely enjoy a range of relaxation equipment including saunas, thermal spas, plunge pools, and monsoon showers.
As a spa therapist you’ll be working in the beauty industry and your job role will include some of the same tasks as beauticians, but the focus of a spa therapist is usually the client’s relaxation and indulgence, whereas a beauty therapist is chiefly concerned with their client’s appearance. Spa therapists also maintain the appearance, ambience and sanitation of wellness centre equipment and public areas.
