A Wool Classer works in a shearing shed to classify wool ready for market. You’ll appraise wool according to qualities such as strength, thickness, length or colour. Wool Classers sort wool and get it ready for sale by pressing it into bales. You’ll have to weigh the wool and keep accurate records about what has been sent to market.
Being a Wool Classer requires attention to detail and strong organisational skills. There is some manual labour involved so you’ll have to be physically fit. A Wool Classer may work long hours during shearing season and will need to be able to work as part of a larger team.
