A Commis Chef works in a specialty section of food preparation in a commercial kitchen. You’ll performs a range of tasks to assist other chefs in the creation and serving of meals. Commis Chefs may prepare ingredients and cook parts of a meal such as meat, sauces or side dishes. You might have to complete other kitchen tasks such as preparing tools or equipment or cleaning food preparation areas.

Commis Chefs should be able to work quickly and follow instructions. It’s important that you can communicate well and work as part of a team. Commis Chefs need to be organised and able to focus on their tasks. You may have to perform several tasks at one time and you may be required to work irregular hours such as nights, weekends or holidays.
