Building Estimator careers
A Building Estimator works out projected costs for construction projects including material, labour and hire of necessary equipment. You’ll work with other construction industry professionals like construction managers, architects or surveyors to plan building budgets. You might have to work out timeframes for construction projects and take into account current industry regulations. You’ll look at plans and quotes to prepare your estimates.
Building Estimators need a strong knowledge of the building industry. You’ll need to be organised as you’ll usually be working on multiple projects at once. You’ll need good communication skills and have to liaise with numerous construction professionals. Time management is crucial and it’s important you can work as part of a larger team. Building Estimators need a good head for numbers and will also have to be excellent problem solvers.
